DC Sustainable Energy Utility

The District of Columbia Sustainable Energy Utility (DC SEU) is designed to help District households, businesses, and institutions save energy and money through energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. Led by the Sustainable Energy Partnership, the DC SEU is committed to community engagement, economic development, job creation, and environmental preservation. DC Sustainable Energy Utility is a project of the Sustainable Energy Partnership under contract to the District Department of the Environment (DDOE).
Energy efficiency programs offered by the DC SEU:
Low-Income Multifamily Program
Designed specifically for low-income residents, this direct-installation program provides low-cost energy retrofits in income-qualified multifamily rental properties throughout the District.
Single-Family Home Retrofit Program
Designed specifically for single-family homeowners in selected neighborhoods throughout the District, this limited-time program provides significant opportunities for motivated homeowners to begin making their homes more energy efficient and achieve immediate energy savings.
Small Business Direct Installation Program
Available for a limited-time, this program provides energy assessments and energy efficiency retrofits to small businesses in selected neighborhoods throughout the District.
Solar PV and Hot Water Programs
Pilot programs designed to support the District’s growing market for distributed renewable energy systems and collect market intelligence and hands-on project experience needed to deliver valuable programs to customers in the future.
The DC SEU Benchmarking Help Center
In response to the District’s Benchmarking regulation, the DC Sustainable Energy Utility has created a Benchmarking Help Center to provide assistance with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, understanding the regulations, and connecting people with other DC SEU efficiency programs. The help center operates a help line, reached at (202) 525-7036 or benchmarking@dcseu.com, and also offers periodic in-person training sessions.
