Energy Benchmarking of Private Buildings - Proposed Regulations

The proposed regulations impment the provisions of the Green Buildings Act, and related legislation, which mandate that according to building size and defined schedule, owners of privately-owned buildings annually benchmark their buildings using the US EPA Energy Star Portfolio Manager benchmarking tool; that the benchmark and Energy Star statements of energy performance for each building be submitted to DDOE; and that beginning with the second annual filing for a given building, DDOE make the results available to the public. In addition the proposed regulations set for DDOE's implementation and enforement of the benchmarking requirements.
