Mayor's Green Team
The Mayor's Green Team is a collaborative effort by District agencies to improve the District's environmental practices, both internally and externally. The Team consists of over 80 members from over 40 agencies, all of whom were designated by agency directors. Through monthly meetings and smaller working groups, the Team seeks to find innovative solutions and overcome interagency implementation challenges. There are currently 4 active working groups that are moving the Mayor's Green Team forward on the issues of Climate Change, Greening your Government Building, Outreach and Education, and Recycling.
Message from Mayor Adrian M. Fenty:
Dear Friends,
Welcome to Green DC! I want to thank you for your interest in environmental issues. My vision is for the District of Columbia to be a model city in conserving its resources and minimizing its ecological footprint. We're well on our way.
Through our innovative Green Building Act and the upcoming activities of our Green Collar Jobs Council, the District Government and the residents and businesses it serves are already showing the rest of the nation that economic growth and environmental protection can go hand in hand.

The future starts at home, so I've given Director Hawkins and the Mayor's Green Team a very important task. Reducing this government's impact on the environment will set an example for the rest of our city and for other cities as well. I believe it will also reduce the cost of running the government.

Sincerely, Adrian M. Fenty, Mayor
